Deb Dyer shares the birth of professional training missions at ADVANTAGE RANCH:It was the last day of December 1995 when I met Chris Sokol and her husband Ron. They came for a farm visit, which is one way we begin our relationships with the people joining our community. Chris was interested in riding lessons and we had a lovely and engaging conversation about all that is available from learning with horses and through horsemanship. Along the way of this conversation I shared the stories of some of our competitive youth riders, what they were up to and how it had transformed their lives. |
| Ron asked, “This is really important work…. Do you make any money at it?” And I laughed and said, “The kids who most need what I do can’t afford to do it, money doesn’t grow on trees!” Ron said, “I teach organizations how to meet those needs, and I am here to tell you that money grows on trees. What you do here is unique, and what makes it powerful is you. You need to figure out how to teach other people to do what you do, how to be who you are. Then it will grow and help kids everywhere.
